Advocacy in Action

Alberta China Offices

At our Business Advisory Committee meeting on May 13, we had the benefit of hearing from the Alberta China Office as a representative from the Government of Alberta international offices. These international offices support a broad set of government initiatives and priorities and also assist Alberta companies and organizations in their efforts to: promote trade; advocate on behalf of Alberta; attract talent; attract investment to the province.

The Alberta China Offices promote Alberta products and services, connects Alberta companies to Chinese buyers, and helps Chinese companies in seizing investment opportunities in Alberta and setting up a presence across a variety of sectors, including energy, agriculture, forestry, cleantech, life science, ICT, education, healthcare, manufacturing, aviation, logistics, and tourism. The Alberta China Offices also facilitates participation in key trade promotion events, showcasing Alberta’s exceptional offerings in China. Additionally, the office can provide any other support such as market intelligence, due diligence, and leads introduction.

If you’re exploring expansion opportunities in China, William Wang, Director of Alberta China Office, would love to connect with you to discuss the market, market intelligence, partnerships, risk, and opportunities related to doing business in China.  Contact us to find out more or email will.wang@gov.ab.ca

Brooks Smoker Wars will host their third annual event at the CRA on June 13 and 14. Last year, approximately 60 competitors participated in the event and fed over 700 people. This event raised over $20,000 last year which was donated to local organizations including the Aarit Hok Pediatric Fund, Senior's Outreach, BAPS, Cleo's Karma Canine Rescue and the Brooks Dog Park. The City donated the use of the CRA for the event in exchange for a donation to a City-funded project (e.g. Brooks Dog Park) in an amount equivalent to the cost of a facility rental.
